The Transport department of Ga Central Municipal Assembly has organized a stakeholder meeting on February 19, 2025, to discuss key issues affecting the municipality. The meeting, attended by the presiding member Hon. Micheal Acquah, Mr. Baffour Awuah Darlington, head of Transport, Madam Victoria Essel, the budget analyst and the Deputy Coordinating Director, Hajia Humratu Tani Abdulia, various heads of departments in the assembly and also 47 heads of drivers unions, focused on three main agendas which is lorry park fees, commercial driver's license cards, and urban passenger transport service registration. The assembly proposed a fee of 4 Ghana cedis for taxis and 5 Ghana cedis for trotros, but stakeholders suggested a lower fee of 2 Ghana cedis. The second agenda highlighted the benefits of switching to PVC cards for commercial driver's licenses, including modernization, durability, convenience, security, and improved data management. The third agenda outlined the requirements for registering urban passenger transport services, emphasizing the need for legal association, application forms, route registration, and valid licenses. In his closing remarks, the presiding member emphasized the importance of collaboration between transport drivers and the assembly to drive the municipality's development. By working together, they can address many challenges facing the municipality.
