GA CENTRAL HEALTH DIRECTORATE HOLDS ANNUAL PERFORMANCE MEETING

The Ga Central Health Directorate held its annual performance review meeting at the Assembly’s Conference Hall on the 23rd of February, 2024, to assess the performance of health facilities within the Municipality.

The theme for the program was; Improving Performance and Health Outcomes through Partnerships and Excellence in Health Services Delivery. The focus of the theme and the shared vision for 2024 is to challenge health workers to explore more innovative ways to provide health care services that will improve the experience of patients and satisfy the expectations of the communities and the stakeholders they serve.

The objective of the meeting was for health facilities within the Municipality to assess themselves on how they performed in the year 2023 per their objectives and targets set to achieve within the year under review.

The program was graced by Dr. Easter Odame Asiedu, Municipal Health Director, Mr. John Owusu Koranteng, Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Humeratu Abdulai, Deputy Director and Mr. Daniel Dogi, Chairman for the meeting.

Dr Esther Odame Asiedu thanked staff of the Health Directorate for honoring the invitation and urged them to continue to work as a team to bring success to the Department and the Assembly.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. John Owusu Koranteng, in his welcome address praised the Health Directorate for the good work they did in 2023 and asked them to collaborate with other departments of the Assembly in the discharge of their duties.

Mr. Daniel Dogi, representing the Regional Health Director who also doubled as the Chairman for the occasion in his speech said, the focus of the theme and the shared vision for 2024 was to challenge everybody to explore more innovative ways to provide health care services that largely improves the experience of our patients and satisfies the expectations of the communities and the stakeholders we serve.

He said “achieving service excellence is no doubt an arduous task, however, if we focus our attention on the essential things such as engaging the communities we serve, to gauge their expectations and provide them with quality and safe health services, we would be taken a good step in that regard.” He added that health workers must build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders such as the District Assembly, the Chiefs and Opinion Leaders and the other service providers, especially the private sector players. He said that partnerships are important, as it helps us to mobilize resources beyond the traditional sources, to grow and expand the scope of the health care services.

Mr. Dogi stated that, another essential key to enable us to improve upon our performances and health to a highest height depends on data at hand hence failure to document data will be in vain according to the GHS DHIMS II platform. This is to help compare achievements with said targets, thus help to identify and refocus on the gaps to ensure that we are on the right course. This also is to challenge all BMC heads to adapt the use of technology in the collection of data and reporting, to ensure efficacy and to support health staff with the necessary tools and logistics to facilitate quality data collection, He opined.

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people. The cost of freedom is always high"

A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people. The cost of freedom is always high"
