T

he Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, together with officials of the Assembly have carried out an official inspection of the ongoing construction of the ground floor of a two-storey, 6-unit classroom block for the Anyaa M/A Basic School at Antie-Aku.

This inspection is to assess progress of work, discuss necessary modifications and plan for the speedy completion of the facility.

The construction of the two-storey classroom block forms part of the Assembly’s broader effort to improve educational infrastructure in the municipality. The project is intended to reduce classroom congestion, enhance teaching and learning conditions, and support the growing student population of the Anyaa M/A Basic School.

The inspection revealed that the project has made significant progress over a relatively short period. At the time of the inspection, the project had advanced from the floor (ground slab) level to the completion of block laying, indicating steady and commendable progress by the contractor. This development reflects efficient resource utilization and adherence to the construction schedule.

Following the site inspection, a brief meeting was held to brief the MCE, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. John Owusu Koranteng, the Municipal Works Engineer, Eng. Moses Akuffo, Headmaster of the Anyaa M/A School, Mr. Eric Assuming and other Hheads of Departments on progress of work.

The Quantity Surveyor from WIFA Builder Limited, Mr. Emmanuel T. Afotey, focussed on the assessment of current stage and quality of construction work including verification of project timeline, while stating funding as their challenge.

The MCE expressed satisfaction at work executed so far which appeared consistent with standard construction practices. He said, materials and labour used on site indicated that the contractor is complying with expected quality standards.

“No major structural defects have been identified at this stage; however, continuous monitoring is necessary to ensure that quality is maintained throughout all phases of the project”, the MCE reiterated. He assured them of prompt payments if all documentations are completed.

The headmaster, Mr. Assuming, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and acknowledged the visible progress made. He however requested an additional water storage unit from the construction firm as part of their corporate social responsibility.
