GCMA ORIENTS NEWLY ELECTED ASSEMBLY MEMBERS AND GOVERNMENT APPOINTEES

he Ga Central Municipal Assembly held an orientation for Assembly members on 16th April, 2024, at the conference room. The sole purpose of the meeting was to elaborate on the core mandate of Assembly members and how the Assembly operates.
The meeting chaired by the Presiding Member (P.M), Hon. Michael Acquah and former Presiding Member, Hon. Sheriff Abdul Fattah, saw Hajia Humeratu Abudulai, Deputy Director, Kennedy Anin, Municipal Information Officer, Baffuor Awuah Darlington, Transport Officer, Isaac Awuah, Human Resource Officer, Bright Akuamoah, Environmental Health Officer, Michael N.K Ekuban, Works Officer in attendance.


The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ambrose Tsegah, at the orientation stated that Assembly Members should always look presentable as well as coordinate very well with technocrats of the Assembly.
Hon. MCE advised Assembly members to avoid politicizing issues concerning the welfare of the Assembly and urged them to bring out innovative ideas to boost revenue generation for the Assembly.
The Former Presiding Member, Hon Sherif Fattah cautioned Assembly members, to be well composed and have a sense of responsibility. He also urged Assembly members to avoid making promises they cannot keep in their various electoral areas to protect their integrity.
In addition, he disclosed that, the PRCC is a committee set up to check and regulate behaviors as well as receive complaints from any member of the Assembly and therefore urged Assembly members to make effective use of the PRCC when a challenge arises.
Hon. Sherif Fattah elaborated on instances where an Assembly member can be demoted, thus missing General Assembly meeting three consecutive times.
He as well stated that an Assembly member is replaced two months after his or her death and a month after resignation.
He encouraged Assembly members to adhere to the rules of engaging electorates fourteen (14) days before a General Assembly Meeting.
The Heads of Department took turns to present on the duties and services rendered by their department and assured the Assembly members of their willingness to offer assistance should the need arise.
