GCMA HOLDS FIRST BREAKFAST MEETING AS NEW MCE ENGAGES WITH MAJOR STAKEHOLDERS

etropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) under the local governance act are mandated by law to mobilize resources and resolve developmental challenges facing their catchment areas. In view of the above, the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga Central, Hon. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, has engaged stakeholders including Landlords’ associations, leadership of the various markets, Bankers, teachers and schools’ associations, the Clergy, Muslim and Zongo leadership, Chiefs, leadership of the GPRTU and heads of departments of the Assembly, on the developmental challenges facing the Ga Central Municipality, take their inputs and to formally introduce himself as the current MCE.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. John Owusu Koranteng, in a welcome address, formally introduced the new MCE. He also admonished stakeholders to bring on board every necessary information needed to help the municipality grow in development.


In an introductory speech, Hon. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, thanked stakeholders for honouring the Assembly’s invitation and commended them for their efforts in helping all past MCEs over the period to succeed. He highlighted the enormous challenges that the municipality faces in terms of jobs, security, health, education, road infrastructure, markets and drainage systems.
“The challenges are enormous but if we all come together, we can reset the municipality into the municipality we all want”, he opined. The Municipal Chief Executive reiterated the need for continuous consensus building amongst stakeholders to uplift the face of Ga Central. He called for all to come aboard to help reset the deplorable state of our various public schools, health centers and markets.
The Hon. MCE also underscored the need for the various stakeholders to promptly honour their obligations by paying taxes to the maximize the assembly’s revenue. He educated stakeholders about the payment of 5cedis basic rate by every Ghanaian, eighteen years and above and entreated all those engaged in any form of business to pay business operating permit and property rates promptly.
