he Ga Central Municipal Assembly has launched several developmental projects aimed at improving the quality of education, healthcare and access to potable water in the municipality.
The sod-cutting ceremony which took place at the Agape electoral area reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development across the country with the Ablekuma-Fanmilk-Abease, Olebu, Santa Maria-Antie Aku, Israel-Lomnava, Kwashiebu, Anyaa East & West, Agape Pentecost and Sowutuom electoral areas as beneficiaries.
In an opening remark, the Municipal Education Director, Mr Ibrahim Mumuni, applauded government’s interest in educational infrastructure, emphasizing that the school project was not just ordinary but an investment in human capital development, thus, affirming education as a fundamental right for all.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr John Owusu Koranteng, heads of departments, assembly members, traditional leaders, stakeholders and residents of the beneficiary communities, performed the sod-cutting to mark the commencement of the projects.
The projects include the construction of an 18-unit classroom block complex at Ablekuma Agape, six-unit classroom block at Antie Aku, four-storey office annex at Sowutuom-Antie Aku for Ga Central, astroturf pitch at Israel Park, continuation and completion of three-storey health facility at Ablekuma Abease, fence/retaining wall, security post and reclamation of low land, a 2.5mX1.5m storm drain at Mambo-Sowutuom.
A total of seven (7) mechanized boreholes also to be constructed in the Olebu, Kwashiebu, Lomnava, Agape Pentecost, Auntie-Aku, Anyaa West and Ablekuma Fanmilk electoral areas.
The contracts for the water projects are expected to be completed within three months, whilst that for the building projects would take between 6 to 12 months to complete with a guarantee of quality services.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Ga Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, stated that the symbolic sod-cutting represented not just the beginning of construction of the facilities but a renewal of hope for the residents within the municipality thus, a direct response to their needs expressed during community engagements, durbars, and town hall meetings.
Hon. Emmanuel Allotey also charged the various contractors to execute their duties with professionalism, urgency and integrity while urging the contractors to engage the youth in project execution to help create job opportunities in the municipality.
‘You are building not just an infrastructure but hope and opportunities for generations to come. The quality and level of dedication applied to these projects would directly shape the future and well-being of these communitie’, he emphasized.
He also advised residents to cultivate the culture of maintenance when the projects are handed over to them to ensure sustainability.
The MCE attributed these projects to the ‘Resetting Ghana’ agenda led by the John Mahama administration, prioritizing investments in education, healthcare, water, sanitation and road infrastructure to improve the lives of Ghanaians.
Traditional leaders and residents in the beneficiary communities expressed their excitement for the developmental projects, describing them as timely, impactful and would also enhance their livelihoods as well as boosting economic activities.
