GA CENTRAL MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS FORUM WITH DRIVERS UNION.

n the month of 4th April, 2024, as part of the Ga Central Municipal Assembly Stakeholders engagements, held a discussion forum with the Drivers Union to enhance effective transportation services within the Municipality.
The objective of the forum was to address the challenges that hinders drivers from accessing the terminal at the Anyaa market.
The forum was honored by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Edward Ambrose Tsegah, Municipal Coordinating Director John Owusu Koranteng, Head of Transport Department Mr. Baffour Awuah, and a representative from planning Mr Braimah Suleiman, Head of urban roads Mr John Armah and Head of Finance Hajia Humeratu Abdulai.
The Hon. MCE, Edward Ambrose Tsegah, opened the forum with a warm address and appreciated the Drivers Union for honoring the invitation.


The forum was opened for questions where a member of the union said, the main challenge that hinders their access to the terminal is the poor nature of the road from Calvary Junction leading to the market hence does not foster their work effectively, therefore pleading with the Assembly to fix the deplorable state of the road.
The engineers of the Assembly assured the union of visiting the Calvary Junction for site inspection before any further communication.
With regards to the sanitation and security concerns raised, the Assembly assured the Union of effective and frequent disposal of refuse at the terminal to ensure effective healthy and clean environment since the wellbeing of the people is their major concern.
Also, the Assembly assured the union of a collaboration between the Assembly security force and the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union task force to work together to ensure that roads regulations are adhered to by passengers and drivers hence, help reduce the traffic.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Edward Tsegah addressed and cautioned the Ghana Private Road Transport Union in charge of the terminal to desist from implementing policies without the knowledge of the Assembly and therefore suspended the operational use of the enclosed washroom with an immediate effect. He stated that, the activities of the terminal should end at 10 pm.


He also cautioned the drivers to desist from using the road as a washing bay and anyone who falls as a victim will be penalized.
The Honorable MCE emphasized on the need for effective public education to create awareness on some benefits of using the terminal. He further stated that, the Ambulance parking site will be behind the hospital and the Lane five road will be fix for temporal use.
A ten member technical committee was set up to enhance the effective use of the terminal.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Ga Central, urged the Cargo Union to have deliberations with it members and move to the terminal with an immediate effect.
