GCMA CHIEF EXECUTIVE CONFIRMED.

“Emmanuel Adotey Allotey has taken in-charge as (MCE) of Ga Central Municipal Assembly, after securing 70% approval from Assembly Members”.
Emmanuel Adotey Allotey has been confirmed as the new Chief Executive of Ga Central Municipal Assembly (GCMA), following the approval by Assembly Members during a Special General Assembly Meeting held on Monday 12th May, 2025 at the forecourt of the Assembly.

Mr. Allotey secured 14 valid votes cast representing 70 per cent to sail through in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC), gaining the two-thirds majority required under Section 20 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).


Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, who supervised the voting process, in a statement prior to the voting called on Assembly Members to uphold their constitutional mandate by confirming the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The Municipal Director of Health. Dr. Esther Odame Asiedu warmly welcomed dignitaries and the students for honoring the invitation and highlighted on the theme for this year’s World Hygiene Day, ‘Together a period free friendly world’. She said, menstruation is the removal of blood and mucosal tissues from the inner lining of the uterus therefore every young girl should not be scared.



In her speech, she stated that, last year, the national best teacher came from the Ga Central Municipality and therefore asked the Second Lady to extend her warm gesture by providing the Municipality with an E-Library. Mrs. Tassa drew the attention of the Second Lady on the numbers of female students who skip school simply because they cannot afford a sanitary pad. She thanked Her Excellency for supporting young girls with sanitary pads through her foundation. This she said will help secure most females in school during that time of the month. The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Darkoa Newman, disclosed that her ministry will work hand in hand with Ghana Education Service to amplify menstrual health education and hygiene awareness as an integral part of basic level education. Regarding the worrying trends of stigma attached to menstruation where many young girls miss the opportunity to write exams which poses a threat to their education, she said, constant sensitization will help reduce ignorance, misconception and myths surrounding menstruation.
